MANAGING YOUR MAVTEMP

Congratulations on your MavTemp… now what? We have provided a list of helpful resources and tools to assist in successfully managing your new MavTemp employee.

RESOURCES AND TOOLS

The information provided on this page is meant to assist with questions you or your temporary employee may have about working with UTA. Please do not hesitate to contact your MavTemp Recruiter if you have additional questions.

If you are not satisfied with the MavTemp we send you, within the first 48 hours of the employee’s arrival, simply notify your MavTemp office – and we will terminate the current employee’s assignment and secure a replacement without billing your department an additional service fee.

The MavTemp program provides the temporary employee with a complimentary 7 day parking permit on their first day of assignment. The parking permit is valid for all Faculty/Staff parking areas on campus.

Please ensure that your MavTemp logs in and purchases a new parking permit. There are options for daily, weekly, and monthly permit. This is up to the MavTemp on what they prefer. A permit can be purchased through the UTA Parking and Transportation website.

 

Once a temporary employee has been onboarded into UT Share and has received their NetID and Employee ID, s/he may obtain a photo ID from the MAV ID office located at 300 W First Street.

When an assignment is complete, the employee must surrender the MAV ID to the MavTemp program.

MavTemp employees will use TCP to log in and out of their assignment each day. It is the employee's responsibility to make sure they enter all time accurately and on time for each pay period.

As their manager, you will have the ability to review, approve, and amend any time punches in TCP. It is the managers responsibility to review and approve timesheets on-time.

If you will not be available to approve hours, please designate a proxy as a back-up in your absence. Approving timesheets on a timely basis is critical so your MavTemp can be paid on time.

MavTemps are paid bi-weekly according to the UTA Fiscal Year Semi-Monthly Deadlines and Paydays Schedule and are issued through direct deposit.

Departments may provide an employee using an alternate location with necessary office supplies and equipment if the department deems it appropriate and necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.

Departments are responsible for the inventory, distribution, and retrieval of university property once a MavTemp employee's assignment has ended.

Remote Work Agreements (RWA's) or other flex work arrangements documentation must be completed by the department hiring managers and the MavTemp employee.

All University owned equipment remains the property of The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) and must be returned upon completion/termination of an assignment.

Like a regular employee, your MavTemp should notify you in advance if they want time off for anything that isn't an emergency. Any time your MavTemp takes off it is without pay, whether it is for a doctor's appointment or job interviews. With the hiring managers approval, the MavTemp can make up any missed work hours.

If you are wanting to increase or decrease your MavTemps hours, you can make arrangements with your MavTemp and you will need to notify the MavTemp office of the changes so that the assignment can be adjusted accordingly.

MavTemp employees are not eligible for benefits at UTA.

Independent coverage is available through the Health Insurance Marketplace - also referred to as the Exchange - established by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). The Marketplace will offer different benefit levels for its health plans covering benefits defined by federal regulators; premiums and out-of-pocket costs will differ by plan.
