Work Hours and Important Dates

Working at UTA is ideal for students due to convenient location, flexible scheduling, social networking and the opportunity to develop relevant, transferable skills. The information provided below is to help departments ensure students meet employment regulations as governed in the UTA student employment policies and procedures.

Summary of UTA's Limits on Work Hours for Employees in Student Titles

 

  • No more than 19 hours per week of UTA employment
  • Up to 40 hours per week while classes are not in session:
    • Spring Break - 5 days a week, plus the Saturday and Sunday before and after
    • Summer - the summer semester has a variety of sessions. Students may work up to 40 hours while not taking courses as defined by the periods after the "last day of final exams" or "official last day of term" and before the "first day of classes" listed in the academic calendar
    • Winter Break - Day after December graduation through day before January classes start, if not taking winter courses.
  • No more than 19 hours per week of UTA employment during long semesters (fall/spring)
  • Up to 40 hours per week during school holidays, or summer semester while not enrolled in courses.
  • On-campus employment must end with the completion of the program.
  • On-campus employment does not have to be reported to OIE, but students without a Social Security Number will need to submit the On Campus Employment Verification form.
