Faculty Onboarding

Before You Arrive

Congratulations! You’ve signed your offer letter – what happens next? Here’s what you need to know before your first day.

Required Tasks

Before you arrive on campus, be sure to complete several essential tasks to ensure a smooth start to your journey at UTA.

As you begin your journey with UTA, please keep an eye out for two crucial emails from noreply-idm@uta.edu. These are your Welcome Onboarding emails, and they contain essential information you will need to get started. Make sure to keep track of these emails!

  • Email 1 - Welcome to UTA! Your Employee ID Inside

This email will provide your Employee ID number, along with instructions on the next steps. It includes important details to help you understand what's next in your onboarding process.

  • Email 2 - Unlock your MavJourney: Your UTA NetID Awaits!

This email will contain your UTA NetID and instructions on how to activate it. You will need the information from Email 1 - Welcome to UTA! Your Employee ID Inside to assist with activating your NetID.

IMPORTANT:

Please ensure you read and complete the steps in these emails AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Failure to do so may result in delays in receiving your Maverick ID Card and logging in on your first day to set up your payroll information.

For any assistance with setting up your NetID or accessing UTShare, feel free to reach out to the IT Service Desk at (817) 272-2208, chat with us here, or submit a self-service ticket at IT Help

If you have not received these emails, please check your spam folder, reach out to your new supervisor, or contact the IT Service Desk.

Once you receive Email 2 - Unlock Your MavJourney: Your UTA NetID Awaits! you can start setting up your NetID.

Here are some important ground rules for your NetID and password:

  • Keep your NetID and password under lock and key – they’re your VIP access codes to many UTA services.
  • Your NetID password expires every 180 days, so stay tuned for the reminder email with instructions to create a new password.
  • Guard your NetID and password like treasure. If you suspect your NetID or password is compromised, contact the IT Service Desk immediately

Your NetID password will be the same password for your email

HOW TO ACTIVATE YOUR NETID:

  1. Visit the NetID Self-Service website
  2. Enter your NetID: nguyenht3
  3. Enter the default password in the following format:
    • First letter of your last name, capitalized
    • Last 6 digits of your UTA ID #
    • Birth Year

Example: If your name is Ralph Jones, UTA ID is 1000123456, and you were born in 1899, your password is: J-123456-1899

Note: The default password does not contain spaces but includes dashes.

  4. Click "Sign In"
  5. Review the Acceptable Use Policy and check the "I Agree" box, then click "Continue"
  6. Time to flex those creative muscles – craft your very own password, following the guidelines on the page.
  7. If the system gives you a thumbs up, click "Continue"
  8. Log out from the top right corner

For any assistance with setting up your NetID or accessing UTShare, feel free to reach out to the IT Service Desk at (817) 272-2208, chat with us here, or submit a self-service ticket at IT Help

Employees may not work without a valid and verified Form I-9.

To ensure there are no delays with your first paycheck and to secure your employment at UTA, it is crucial to complete both Section 1 and Section 2 of the I-9 process on time.

On or before your first day at UTA, all employees, faculty, and students must complete Section 1 of Form I-9 online through our partner, Equifax and E-Verify. Click the link below to get started:

Important: Once you submit Section 1, you will not be able to edit or access it again.

For more information about the I-9 process, please visit our Employment Eligibility Verification I-9 website.

To complete your I-9 verification, schedule an in-person appointment with our Onboarding Center to present your original I-9 supporting documents. This must be completed within 3 business days of your start date.

DID YOU KNOW?

You can schedule an appointment before your first day to complete Section 2 of your I-9. This helps lighten your to-do list and ensures a smoother start in your new role.

IMPORTANT: Bring your original I-9 supporting documents to this appointment. All IDs must be originals—no copies, photos, or scans will be accepted.
