Vice Provost for Faculty Success

Minerva Cordero, Ph.D.

Dr. Minerva Cordero provides leadership and support for UTA’s strategic commitment to faculty excellence and career success. Cordero oversees and provides supports regarding faculty matters, including faculty promotion and tenure, faculty professional development, orientation and leadership training, review of policy, faculty development leaves, faculty retention, faculty awards and honors, grievances and conduct issues, and other subjects related to academic personnel and their concerns. Reporting to the Provost, Cordero ensures that all faculty have the support and resources necessary to successfully perform their teaching, research, service, and administrative roles and simultaneously advance excellence in each area, including student success and service to the region. Cordero ensures the support for the development of all faculty, department chairs, deans, and other academic leaders. She coordinates communications and committee selections for promotion, faculty development leaves, and teaching awards processes. She leads efforts to improve teaching effectiveness, including supervision for the Center for Research on Teaching and Learning Excellence (CRTLE). She also collaborates with Faculty Affairs divisions across the UT-System and helps manage efforts related to community engagement and related designations.

Associate Vice Provost

Ann R Hawkins, Ph.D.

Dr. Ann R. Hawkins provides a broad spectrum of support for tenure-line faculty, particularly those seeking tenure and/or promotion. Hawkins builds support programs for new chairs and deans and faculty professional development across the career lifespan. She builds and coordinates the first-year institute for early career faculty and leadership academy and supports associates seeking promotion to full. With the Vice Provost, she creates new initiatives focused on increasing opportunities for faculty development, engagement, and success, particularly mentoring at all levels. In compliance with SACSCOC standards and expectations, Hawkins certifies faculty credentials. With the Assistant Vice Provost, she reviews faculty career paths for prestigious fellowships and awards. She coordinates the fall and spring University Faculty and Associates meetings. Internally, Hawkins manages the Director of Faculty Engagement and serves as a liaison to Academic Affairs, the Belonging and Engagement team in Talent, Culture, and Engagement, and the Accreditation Liaison Officer. Externally, she is the campus liaison for the NCFDD.

Assistant Vice Provost

Shanna Banda, Ph.D.

Dr. Shanna Banda provides a broad spectrum of support for the Academic Professional Track faculty. Banda develops and conducts professional development opportunities for Academic Professional Track (APT) faculty at every stage of their career. This includes all full-time APT faculty, adjuncts, and other part-time faculty. She oversees faculty awards and recognition, annual APT faculty reviews and promotion processes, and the Faculty Profile and Management System (Watermark/Digital Measures). She collaborates with other administrators to review and update policies such as the APT Promotion guidelines and departmental faculty handbooks/bylaws. She produces the bi-monthly Faculty Success Newsletter and plans and coordinates the fall Promotion Dinner. Internally, she manages the Director of Faculty Management Systems and serves as the liaison to Student Affairs, Student Success, and University Analytics. Externally, she is the campus liaison for Academic Analytics, co-chairs the UT-System Faculty Affairs committee for APT faculty, and helps coordinate efforts related to community engagement and related designations.

Director of Faculty Management Systems

Samantha Baker Moore

Ms. Samantha Moore administers and manages the Watermark/Digital Measures (WDM) database containing faculty information for compliance with Texas regulations, including HB 2504. She oversees the integration of WDM with other campus data systems such as MyMav, PeopleSoft, Mentis, and course evaluations and surveys. She conducts training sessions and guides for administrators, faculty, and staff and ensures data integrity. She supports the annual review, promotion, and awards processes by building and managing WDM workflows. She prepares data and reports for UT-System regarding tenure, CPE, and workload and she provides university, college, and school leadership with data and custom reports, particularly on faculty activity and career programs.

Director of Faculty Engagement

Nali Kim, Ed.D.

Dr. Nali Kim, PMP, oversees faculty career development from onboarding to retirement. She engages closely with new faculty to increase community and retention. She develops and oversees programming to promote faculty engagement and partners with the Associate Provost on New Faculty Orientation and the New Faculty Institute. She facilitates training in Crucial Conversations as part of DFS’s professional development offerings for chairs and other leaders. She also meets regularly with faculty to help identify potential roadblocks in a faculty’s professional development and success. She conducts exit interviews and offboarding processes and analyzes faculty hiring, retention, and promotion data. Dr. Kim serves as DFS’s project manager.

Administrative Manager

Denise Cobbs

Ms. Denise Cobbs performs a broad scope of fiscal and human resource duties and provides guidance for DFS in support of UTA policies and procedures. She works closely with the DFS leadership team and supports the work of the Center for Research on Teaching and Learning Excellence (CRTLE) and the Center for Service Learning (CSL). She offers leadership to the Division regarding fiscal, human, and space resources and helps plan, organize, and coordinate business operations functions.

Jocelyn Warren

Ms. Jocelyn Warren helps coordinate the administrative and staff services of DFS. She supports the Associate and Assistant Vice Provosts for Faculty Success and coordinates travel for DFS staff. She is also responsible for coordinating administrative tasks associated with special events hosted by the DFS and the Faculty Senate, including Faculty Orientation, Spring & Fall campus-wide Faculty Meetings, UTA Leadership Academy, Faculty Promotion Celebration, and others.

The Division of Faculty Success includes the administration and staff in the Center for Research on Teaching and Learning Excellence.
