Are you ready to create positive impacts and make lasting changes to mental health for individuals and communities? Then welcome to the School of Social Work, we think getting a Master of Social Work (MSW) is perfect for you. Social Work is a degree that explores the mental health of individuals from all walks of life — at any age, and most students enter our MSW program after receiving a degree in another discipline. That is why for these students we have a two-year program that explores the foundational principles of social work in their first year, and practice-specific social work in their Specialty, or second, year.

How to Know If You Are a Traditional Standing Student

  • Do you have a Bachelor's degree from a 4-year university in a discipline other than social work?
  • Do you have a bachelor of Social Work degree from a non-CSWE accredited program?
  • Is your Bachelor of Social Work degree from a CSWE accredited program older than 6 years old?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then when you apply to the Master of Social Work program you will be classified as a Traditional Standing student and be required to complete the Foundation Year before advancing to the Specialty Year.

If you did not respond yes to any of these questions, please explore our Specialty Year page to see if you are eligible for our 1-Year Program.
