Overview

The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) provides students with the opportunity to learn human behavior theories, how to address social problems and how to advocate for social justice while developing cultural competence skills in assessing and helping individuals, families, and communities.

REQUIREMENTS TO BECOME A BSW MAJOR


UTA Undergraduate students are Intended (INT) until they complete pre-BSW requirements set by the department, in which they are seeking a degree in. Each department has a unique set of requirements that students must meet to ensure that they are ready for more advanced-level courses in their program for graduation. Once an SW-intended student completes the BSW prerequisites they can complete a Major Transition Declaration form and then wait for a decision from the Undergraduate Program Director.


COMPLETE THESE STEPS TO BE ACCEPTED AS A SOCIAL WORK MAJOR

  1. Be Admitted as a UTA BSW-Intended Student
  2. Earn a ‘C’ or higher in 5 Intended courses
  3. Earn a Minimum Cumulative GPA
    1. Bachelor of Social Work: 2.5+ GPA
  4. Complete an Undergraduate Major Transition Declaration Form
  5. Complete BSW/BSSUT Declaration and Ethics Policy Agreement
  6. Complete BSW/BSSUT Major Acceptance Agreement
