Overview

UTA advancing its HSI federal designation by obtaining the Seal of Excelencia re-certification in spring 2025. The HSI strategic plan mirrors the Excelencia in Education intentionality of evidence-based framework and incorporates UTA’s definition and application of servingness, which focuses on providing access to excellence, enhances academic capacity, excels academic quality and nos hace sentir en familia.

Impact

Strengthen UTA's commitment to being a Hispanic-Serving Institution through various initiatives (themes):

  1. Support the campus in creating HSI culture through Thriving and Familismo.
  2. Develop resources support.
  3. Academic excellence and engagement.
  4. Grant funding.
  5. Branding.
  6. Educational Partnerships.

Status Update - Spring 2025

The Seal of Excelencia re-certification project kicked off in November 2024. Majority of the data collection is complete, and the initiative is now in Phase 2—focusing on narrative drafts guided by the Excelencia framework. The re-certification application is scheduled for a May 1, 2025, submission deadline. Re-certification will be achieved by early July 2025 and a campus announcement is scheduled for Oct. 1, 2025.
