The University is exploring how to address modernization of the UC facilities and the need for additional student space. The primary focus for the project will be on what is needed by the students in their clubs, support services, activities, and social activities. A student center’s mission is to establish a dynamic, usable, welcoming hub for all student activity. The goal of the design and layout must be to foster interaction, generate interest, encourage social engagement, attract purposeful involvement, and provide opportunities for students to enhance and improve their academic experience on campus. The architecture must translate the values of the University both to accomplish the objectives for the space inside the building and to design for its impact on the campus setting among the academic buildings.
