Notes From Diganth
Hello, my name is Diganth Prakash, and I am a Computer Science graduate student at The University of Texas at Arlington. I am currently interning at Nokia as a Lab Automation Engineer. The decision to pursue my master’s degree in computer science at UTA was undoubtedly one of the best choices I have made. The college's commitment to providing a comprehensive education that blends theory and practical applications has been instrumental in my development. Notably, the Advanced Database Systems course, taught by David Levine, has played a pivotal role in shaping my career trajectory. The course's extensive curriculum and hands-on approach have equipped me with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in my work at Nokia. I am forever grateful to UTA for providing me with a strong academic foundation.
Intern Experience
Last fall, I embarked on an exciting internship journey with Nokia as an Automation Engineer, and it has been an incredible ride ever since. The skills I acquired at UTA seamlessly merged with the dynamic work environment at Nokia, enabling me to contribute meaningfully and make a real impact.
This internship with Nokia is truly exciting to me for several reasons. First, it provided me with hands-on experience in an industry where I can apply my skills in Python scripting and automation to enhance the provisioning and configuration of Cloud-Native TAS (Telephone Application Server) Architecture services. It also gave me the opportunity to work on automating helm-based deployments while reducing deployment time by 90%, showcasing the significant impact I was able to achieve in optimizing processes. Additionally, the development of a script for AT&T to perform health checks, resulting in an 80% reduction in manual checks, demonstrated the tangible value I was able to offer in a real-world project.
This internship was particularly valuable for my career goals as it aligns perfectly with my academic pursuits in pursuing an M.S. in Computer Science. The practical experience gained through this internship complements my theoretical knowledge, enabling me to bridge the gap between academia and industry. The internship equipped me with industry-standard tools, methodologies, and exposure to Cloud-Native architectures, which are crucial in today's rapidly evolving technological landscape. Furthermore, the supportive environment and collaboration with experienced professionals at Nokia provide invaluable networking opportunities, enabling me to build relationships and learn from industry experts. This internship was an essential stepping stone towards achieving my long-term career objective of becoming a highly skilled and sought-after automation engineer, equipped with the expertise to drive innovation and efficiency in the field.
Future Work
Looking ahead, I am determined to continue making a difference at Nokia by driving innovation. I am constantly exploring emerging technologies and staying updated with industry trends to bring fresh perspectives and creative solutions to the table. My unwavering dedication to excellence and my passion for problem-solving push me to continually seek ways to optimize automation processes and exceed expectations.
