Miller Analogies Test

The Miller Analogies Test is NOT the Math Aptitude Test. If you are looking for the Math Aptitude Test go to: www.uta.edu/math/pages/main/mpt.htm

Miller Analogies Test (MAT) is a high-level mental ability test, administered via computer, requiring the solution of problems stated as analogies. The test is required at some universities for admission to graduate school, but is not accepted for admission to graduate school at UTA. However, some departments require the MAT for graduate admission; please check with your department for requirements. The fee for the MAT is $85.

The MAT consists of 120 partial analogies that are to be completed in 60 minutes. Of the 120 MAT items, your responses to 100 of these items will count towards your score. The other 20 are experimental items that are being tested for future use on MAT test forms and will not affect your score. You will not know which items are experimental and which count toward your score, so it is very important that you do your best on all the items on the test. Fluency in the English language, a broad knowledge of literature, philosophy, history, science, mathematics, and fine arts, and the ability to reason out relationships may contribute to performance on the MAT. There is no foreign language edition of the MAT. Use of a dictionary or any other reference aid is not permitted when taking the MAT.

The MAT is administered through a network of Controlled Testing Centers (CTCs) licensed by the Psychological Corporation to administer the MAT. UT Arlington Testing Services is a Controlled Testing Center. While the Psychological Corporation has rigorous procedures that all CTCs must follow, each center establishes its own testing schedule and its own procedures that candidates must follow to apply for the test. CTCs are responsible only for administering the MAT; The Psychological Corporation is responsible for scoring and reporting scores.
