Rubrics

To test out of a particular course level, students must score within the range indicated below (or higher) on the Avant score:

- For second language learners of Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Korean, Russian, and Spanish, the Avant Score is the average of four parts (reading, writing, listening, speaking).

- For heritage learners of Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Korean, and Russian, and Spanish, the Avant score is the score for the writing portion of the test only, although students must take all four parts of the test and have the average score of all four parts no lower than the writing score. In case it is lower, the composite score of four parts will be used to determine the course level.

- For ASL learners, the Avant score is the average of two parts (interpretive and productive).

Avant STAMP Russian (Rubric for semesters when stand-alone RUSS 1442 class is an option in the fall. RUSS 2313/2314 will be accelerated in the spring, so the rubric reflects this.)
