MODL AMBASSADORS
Our peer-to-peer leadership program is comprised of students who exhibit a positive attitude, tactful leadership skills, and excellence through academic achievements. Members must be a natural helper, engage with peers and instructors, and show enthusiasm for our diverse learning environment. Duties include volunteering for events, communicating with prospective students and parents, articulating the value of language study and intercultural understanding, making classroom visits on campus or at other institutions, and assisting with department communications and community outreach.
Language and Culture Clubs
Most of our language programs have a student-led organization where you can connect with new friends who share your interests in language and culture.
Arabic Language and Culture Organization
The Arabic Language and Culture Organization (ALCO) is a community for students who are interested in promoting the Arabic language and culture on campus. All interested UTA students, not only those enrolled in our courses, are invited to visit ALCO. We welcome Arabic speakers of all levels—beginning, intermediate, and advanced—and provide our members an opportunity to speak Arabic and to increase their knowledge and awareness of the Arabic-speaking world. We meet biweekly to converse and plan events in celebration of Arabic culture. Presentations about Arabic-speaking countries, film screenings, concerts, dining in local Arabic restaurants, and campus events are just some of the activities we take part in. A $10 fee is charged for membership, which goes towards the spending budget of the club. Members must be UTA students.
Chinese Culture and Language Association
The Chinese Culture and Language Association (CCLA) is a community for students who are interested in promoting the Chinese language and culture on campus. All UTA students, not only those enrolled in our courses, are invited to visit the CCLA. We meet regularly to host events in celebration of Chinese culture.
BIENVENUE TOUT LE MONDE!
La Société Francophone
La Société Francophone is a social, cultural, and academic group dedicated to the Francophile within! Though primarily geared towards students currently taking French, we are open to all UTA students. Biweekly meetings are held in English; other events are held in French. Activities include French conversation meetings, French film viewings, lunches or dinners at French restaurants, and annual campus-wide events such as International Week.
German Language Society
The German Language Society (GLS) is a community for students who are interested in promoting the German language and culture on campus. All UTA students, not only those enrolled in our courses, are invited to participate in GLS activities and events. We meet regularly to host events related to German culture and language. Film screenings, German TV, games, popular culture, concerts, authentic German cuisine, conversations in German, and campus events are just some of the activities we take part in.
Korean Culture Association
The Korean Culture Association (KCA) is a community for students who are interested in promoting the Korean language and culture on campus. All UTA students, not only those enrolled in our courses, are invited to visit the KCA. We meet regularly to host events in celebration of Korean culture.
Russian Culture Society
The Russian Culture Society (RCS) is a community for students who are interested in promoting the Russian language and culture on campus.
