Facilities & Maps

The Department of Art & Art History studios and classrooms are located in two facilities:

FINE ARTS BUILDING (FAB)

The Fine Arts Building houses Art History, Cinematic Arts, Photography, Visual Communication Design, Art Education, Drawing, 2-D Design and digital foundation classes.



Soundproof studio featuring a custom fabricated green screen stage. The studio is equipped with an extensive lighting system and is large enough to accommodate built sets for staging purposes.

Soundproof studio featuring a soundbooth and professional audio processing equipment and software.

Letterpress and studio space for exploring alternative forms of printmaking.

Corrugated Prototype Design and CAD Production Lab donated by the International Corrugated Packaging Foundation. For use with the special studies packaging design course. Capabilities of the machine will allow for precise cutting, scoring and marking of materials such as various cardboard stocks and similar materials.

STUDIO ARTS CENTER (SAC)

The Studio Arts Center houses the following studios and is also the site of Gallery West, a student-run exhibition space.

  • The kiln facility has a combined 1600 square ft. indoor and outdoor areas.
  • 7 electric kilns, two 40 cubic ft. & one 30 cubic ft. updraft kilns and a raku kiln.
  • 8 hand-building and sculpture work tables
  • 14 pottery wheels
  • A large slab roller
  • 2 extruders
  • Separate rooms for Plaster use, Moldmaking, Casting, Spray Booths, Glaze Mixing, & Glazing.
  • The UTA glass facility consists of several purpose built, state of the art, technically specialized studio areas.
  • Climate controlled 3000 sq. ft. Cold Shop
  • The Cold Shop houses grinding, cutting, shaping, polishing and fabrication equipment.
  • Extensive warm glass work areas with complete fusing & slumping equipment
  • Kiln room with a variety of casting and fusing kilns
  • Flame working area with various sized torches and annealers
  • A separate 4800 sq. ft. Hot Shop
  • The Hot Shop is completely equipped with a six station glassblowing facility.
  • Glass engraving & carving techniques can be explored using state of the art diamond cutting lathes and grinders
  • A 5,850 Square Foot Painting Studio
