Ken Burns in the Maverick Speakers Series

Documentary filmmaker Ken Burns spoke to a sold-out crowd September 24, 2010 in Texas Hall for the Maverick Speakers Series. Burns has made documentary films for more than 30 years. Since the Academy Award-nominated Brooklyn Bridge in 1981, he has directed and produced some of the most acclaimed historical documentaries ever made.

Recipe for Messy Fun

Mix some water and dirt, throw in some eager players and a volleyball net, and you’ve got Oozeball, a 21-year-old tradition — and student favorite — at UT Arlington. More than 860 players on 144 teams competed, with all proceeds benefiting the Student Alumni Association’s sophomore scholarship fund. University College Dedication

Outstanding achievement and student success now have a meeting place at University College, centrally located on campus in Ransom Hall. The new center, which was dedicated on Thursday, September 2, is home to advising, student support services, the University Studies Program, the McNair Scholars Program, and counseling services. The 1986 UT Arlington graduate officiated this year’s Super Bowl and, along with NBA referee Monty McCutchen (’88), graces the cover of UT Arlington Magazine. Whenever he decides to retire from the NFL, Wash may have a career modeling black-and-white stripes.
