UTA Funding Opportunities

Many graduate students at UT Arlington receive financial support through paid assistantships, fellowships, scholarships and grants. Explore the pages below to learn more about funding opportunities at UT Arlington. Please note, this is a list of funding resources hosted through UT Arlington that may be of interest to master's and doctoral students in any discipline. Check with your department to learn more about funding sources available specifically to students in your program. Students who are interested in applying for a Graduate Teaching or Research Assistantship position should contact their department for more information.

Graduate Tuition Support

Support for tuition costs is provided to Graduate Teaching and Research Assistants (GTAs and GRAs) in PhD programs and our three terminal Master’s programs (Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Fine Arts). For students with a GTA or GRA appointment at 20 hours per week (50% effort), tuition support covers 100% of tuition costs and mandatory fees, up to the enrollment requirement for GTA and GRA positions published in the University Catalog.

Teaching and Research Assistantships

Teaching and research assistantships are offered by most graduate programs to qualified students. Since the availability of assistantships depends on the specific needs of the program and available funding, those interested in obtaining an assistantship should contact their program for information about availability and application procedures. This endowed fellowship is awarded to students in selected colleges who demonstrate excellence in the area of renewable energy or sustainability studies and/or policy and economics aspects of energy.

Graduate Student Organization Grants

This award provides funding to graduate student organizations recognized by Division of Student Affairs. Graduate Student Organization Grants may be used for workshops, events, or other programs supporting purposes including but not limited to community building, student success and well-being, recruitment of new graduate students, and career development. graduate-student-organization-grant

Scholarship for Externally Funded Student Awards

This is an award for students who will receive funding for some of costs of their studies and associated expenses. The amount will vary depending on the size of the award. Only awards greater than $20,000 per year will result in a scholarship that qualifies the recipient for a non-resident tuition waiver. The Scholarship may be renewed annually for up to three years when the award provides funds to the student across multiple years.

This is a fellowship for students who will receive external funding for all or most of the annual cost of their studies and associated expenses. The Fellowship provides $1, 000 and will qualify the student for a non-resident tuition waiver. The Fellowship may be renewed annually for up to three years when the award provides funds to the  student across multiple  across multiple years.
