The information below serves as an orientation for newly admitted students. Please read this page in its entirety as contains information critical to your success as a graduate student in the College of Education.
If you are in an accelerated program, you should have received a welcome e-mail with information unique to your program upon admission. If you have not received this e-mail, please contact your advisor.
The college has both staff advisors and faculty advisors. Staff advisors assist students with admission, registration, enrollment, submission of graduate school forms, and other administrative tasks. Faculty advisors / program directors help students plan their program of work, select courses, answer questions about certification and testing, and other program-related issues.

Your first step is to contact your faculty advisor to create a program of work, which will plot out the courses you will take for your program from start to finish. After your program of work has been created, the faculty advisor will forward a copy to the staff advisor, who will then clear you to register for your first semester of coursework.
Note: Mid-Level, Secondary and All-Level initial teacher certification students are required to have a Content Declaration form on file, with at least half of their required content coursework already completed, before registration clearance can be granted.
You will register and pay for your courses in MyMav, UT Arlington's student registration system.
Activate and regularly check your UTA e-mail. You should also subscribe to the graduate advising Listserv to receive important announcements and reminders.
You should register for your courses prior to the first day of class. However, there is a period of late registration after class begins. Students may not register on their own after the end of late registration.
Between the end of late registration and Census, students may request to be added to courses. Instructor permission is required, and a staff advisor must enroll the student. Census is also the last date a student may drop without receiving a 'W'.
Payment must be made for your courses by midnight on this day or you will be dropped from your coursework. If you register for courses after this day, you must pay by midnight the same day you register.
The last day to drop one or more courses or completely withdraw from your coursework in a semester. You must submit a drop/withdrawal request to a staff advisor no later than 4:00 p.m. on this date.
You must file to graduate with the graduate school by this date in your final semester of your program.
Accept responsibility for your academic decisions, plans and progress.
Familiarize yourself with graduate school and College of Education degree requirements, deadlines, policies and procedures.
