International Freshmen
All freshmen are advised through the University Advising Center. Due to New Maverick Orientation going virtual, you should meet with an academic advisor prior to your orientation session.
After you register for orientation, your advisor will contact you to inform you of any testing requirements you need to complete and provide you with a link to register for a 20-minute virtual advising appointment. During your advising appointment, please have any transcripts of dual credit coursework or test score results (AP, IB, etc.) on hand.
INTERNATIONAL GRADUATE STUDENTS
Academic advising is NOT included in New Maverick Orientation. Graduate students are often academically advised through a separate orientation offered by their academic department. If a departmental orientation is not offered, students should contact their academic department to schedule an advising appointment.
INTERNATIONAL TRANSFER STUDENTS
Academic advising is required for all new transfer students, but it is NOT scheduled into the orientation day. Every transfer student comes to UTA at a unique place in their college career, so your first advising appointment is important to understand where you are in your degree completion at UTA. You should not feel rushed during that process. Therefore, students are encouraged to be advised prior to orientation so that we may assist you with the online registration process at orientation. Visit the Transfer Student Advising page to learn more and schedule an appointment with your academic advisor.
