Testing
TEXAS SUCCESS INITIATIVE (TSI)
Texas Success Initiative (TSI) is a state law requiring all Texas public institutions, including UT Arlington, to determine college readiness in Reading, Writing, and Math for all degree-seeking undergraduate students, both on campus and online. The TSIA2 is the name of the assessment test and is the measurement used to assess college readiness. You will be unable to register for classes at orientation if you are TSI Liable and have not assessed your college readiness. To learn more about your next steps for TSI, click the LEARN MORE - TSI REQUIREMENT link. If you have questions about your TSI status, click the EMAIL ACADEMIC TESTING AND TSI SERVICES link.
If you need to take the TSI Assessment, utilize one of the following options:

RESIDENTS OF THE DFW AREA

MATH PLACEMENT ASSESSMENTS
To support students’ success in their math classes, UTA utilizes math placement assessment tests to determine your appropriate math placement. To ensure proper academic advisement for your degree, the math placement assessments must be completed prior to your academic advising appointment. Visit the Math Department website to learn more.
Students must take the math placement assessments if:
- TSI Complete and would like to enroll in a class higher than Math 1325 (college algebra). This includes students in engineering, science, and architecture majors.
Students do not need the math placement assessments if:
- TSI Complete and will be enrolling in the following classes: Math 1301, Math 1302, Math 1308, Math 1325.
- Will be transferring in a college algebra class or higher from a previous institution or dual credit.
