What is Handshake?

Handshake is a powerful recruitment tool through which an employer can not only post positions, but can also identify qualified candidates, receive career center communications, and manage on and off-campus recruitment activities.

Connecting with UTA on Handshake is the first, and most important, step in promoting a job opening or internship to UTA students/alumni. Once your employer profile is approved, your organization will be able to post positions as well as participate in our recruitment opportunities.

For information on how to register, check out our registration & posting approval page.

Handshake Tips & Tricks

Be accurate, up to date, and have matching information on your profile.

  • Register for your Handshake account using a work-related email with a matching domain.

  • Make sure your website is functioning and matches the organization you'll be recruiting for.

  • If you're creating a new profile for your organization, enter in as much information as possible, which helps establish transparency between your organization and applicants.

  • Create and upload a banner and organization logo that is good quality and sized correctly.

Create authentic relationships by proactively messaging candidates that fit your qualified criteria using search filters and personalized outreach. This can drive both attendees to your virtual events and applicants to your jobs.

Respond to Student Reviews

“65% of job seekers say their perception of a company improves after seeing an employer respond to a review.”
- Edelman Trust Barometer

Student Reviews on Handshake give you the opportunity to communicate directly with your former interns on their experiences. Positive or negative, you are now invited to join the conversation and share your side, too.

Activate Your Past Interns as Brand Ambassadors

Leverage the resources you already have, current and former interns! Students with actual experience at your organization are your best advocates, as they give future interns an authentic look into the organization from peers.
