Personal Responsibility
PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY: ABILITY TO CONNECT CHOICES, ACTIONS AND CONSEQUENCES TO ETHICAL DECISION-MAKING
Today’s employers need people who can consider multiple options, make wise choices, and accept the consequences of those choices. Companies often embed ethical frameworks in institutional culture or company ethos. UTA uses the AAC&U personal responsibility rubric to evaluate student outcome attainment, measuring the following integral dimensions: striving for excellence; personal and academic integrity; contribute to a larger community; take seriously the perspectives of others and ethical and moral reasoning. Competence in Personal Responsibility equips students to make informed decisions, take responsibility for consequences, and be self-aware of their own ethical framework so they can understand their decisions and anticipate future decisions. The rubrics used by UTA to evaluate personal responsibility skills appear below, along with results reports from Core Curriculum Objective assessment activities here at UTA.
