At Tender Heart, all patients and their families are treated with compassion, dignity and respect. We focus on the patient and family. Hospice is about hope and living the rest of your life with comfort and dignity and Tender Heart Hospice does that.

General Services Needs
Tender Heart Hospice Care needs caring volunteers to make a difference in the lives of our patients and their families. Just a few hours a week can make a lasting impact on the lives of others. No skills or licensing needed, just a caring and tender heart for others. On-going training is provided to all volunteers. Volunteers must be 18+ years old and have a valid driver`s license, auto insurance and reliable transportation.

Tasks Available for UTA Students
Volunteers provide added support to our patients and their families in many ways. Volunteers may provide companionship and listening, respite and support for family, read/write letters, facilitate life review, do arts and crafts, do scrapbooking, play music, provide light housekeeping, play a game, watch a movie or sew bibs or quilt lap blankets for patients. Volunteers are also able to assist with administrative tasks in the hospice office or assist in our bereavement program. Hours are flexible.

Students can partner with hospital finance to learn the new rolling forecast model that has been implemented and work to help improve forecast techniques for various line items. What tasks are available for UT Arlington students to help with?
There are a variety of engagement opportunities for college students. THR offers an opportunity to partner with employees in finance, supply chain, revenue cycle, and Health Information Management (HIM) Departments to enhance their coursework. Texas ReEntry Services is a social service program designed to enhance the reintegration of ex-offenders into society. The objective of the Vocation Development Program is to increase the clients’ opportunity for gainful employment.

The Arc of Greater Tarrant County provides services and support for individuals with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities and their families. The Cowtown Marathon is a not-for-profit organization that currently puts on two road races a year (October & February). With our C.A.L.F Program we partner with local schools to donate over 5,000 pair of shoes a year and scholarship students to participate in our events. We want running to be the avenue for all individuals to have a healthy lifestyle.

General Service Needs
We have volunteer needs over our race weekends in October (200) and February (2,000). We also have items through the year in the office that we could use help with. In January and February, we fit schools with shoes and need assistance with that process also. We would love to have interns to help us out also.

Giving Us Leadership and Focus is a Texas based organization that is coming up with solutions and opportunities to re-engage under-served teens in staying on track in school.

By offering a uniquely combined mentoring program that is fostered and managed by teens in exciting peer to peer settings, teens are encouraged to make successful transitions from high school no matter their surrounding circumstances.

Whether they are going into college or preparing for life as young adults without college, they are encouraged and inspired by inquiring project planning, organizations, business development, volunteering, career and entrepreneurial skills. Thus giving them a fighting chance on living life beyond mediocrity.
