Title: "A Journey of Action: Advancing Science, Practice and Training in Culturally Informed Neuropsychological Assessment"

When: 2 p.m. Friday, November 15

Where: SEIR 294

Abstract: Culturally informed neuropsychological assessment is increasingly important as changing populations in the United States require a need for adaptation in methods and instruments, and considerations for making diagnostic determinations, assessment interpretations and recommendations. The presenter’s journey to linking, science, practice and training in culturally informed neuropsychological assessment is highlighted in this presentation. Four core areas of research are highlighted including cultural and bilingual neuropsychology, neurodevelopmental disabilities, gene therapy, and professional issues in (neuro)psychology. Although cultural neuropsychology is discussed separately, it is also a core thread discussed throughout all of the research domains. Further, work that has been completed with trainees is also highlighted in order to give younger students and trainees a glimpse at how broad a research career can be.
