The Bachelor of Arts in History consists of 120 hours of coursework (including the University’s basic core, 36 hours of History coursework, 14 hours of foreign language, and a required 18-hour minor). The UTA History and Geography Department offers a wide variety of courses covering diverse subfields including African-American History, Military History, Latin American History, European History, the History of Science and Technology, Geography, and Disability Studies. The B.A. degree allows students the flexibility to explore subjects and courses based on their personal interests while preparing them to excel in their future careers by cultivating their abilities to think critically; to analyze complex texts; and to communicate ideas precisely across most any medium. The Department’s expanding experiential learning opportunities further aim to assist students in developing transferable skills including data management, spatial analysis, audio-visual production, and basic web design. Students who complete the Bachelor of Arts in History will be well prepared to begin their professional careers or to further their education in law, business, or graduate school.
