Visitor Parking

Welcome to Maverick Country, where the people are great, the campus is lovely, and the parking spaces are plenty — as long as you know what your options are. If you’re planning on swinging in for a quick visit, it’s a good idea to acquaint yourself with our many visitor parking options. After all, we want your visit to go as smoothly as possible.
There are four parking options for visitors:
- street meters across campus,
- visitor parking garages including the Maverick Parking Garage and West Campus parking garage,
- parking spaces designated for visitors, or
- student parking lots with a permit.
The best place to park is the Maverick Parking Garage due to its close proximity to the heart of campus.
The only parking option that requires pre-payment is if you plan to purchase a daily permit to park in a student parking lot-- and we don't recommend this because your walk into campus will be much further. All other visitor locations provide pay-on-site and/or pay-by-phone options.
Metered
There are several areas on campus that provide short-term metered parking. Most machines accept credit cards and coins; however, there are several that accept coins only. Visitor parking can be paid for by the Honk Mobile app available for free in Google Play or iTunes. In order to provide equitable access, metered spaces are enforced from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., Monday through Friday. Vehicles are not allowed to remain past the maximum time period indicated. Meters are free on weekends excluding event lots when cash parking is occurring.

Visitor Spaces
There are numerous parking spaces throughout campus that allow a visitor to park for a designated period of time when conducting business with the University. Departments must validate your parking for these spaces. Please contact your department host to arrange parking here.
Vehicles that have a valid non-visitor UTA permit are not allowed to park in these spaces.
Daily Parking Permits
Departments on campus can validate parking for you prior to your arrival. Otherwise, visitor parking can be prepaid in the Mavpark portal or by stopping by the Parking & Transportation Services office during regular business hours.

These permits allow the vehicle to park in any Student or General Permit Parking Lot until 11:59 p.m. on the date of expiration. No refunds on short-term permit purchases.

Department Sponsored guests
UTA Departments may request special permits for their official guests or guest speakers. The sponsoring department needs to complete a permit request form for the guest (or guests) in order for them to park properly.
