Hispanic Serving Institutions Symposium

UTA Hispanic Serving Institutions Symposium:
Advancing HSI Designation and Servingness

The University of Texas at Arlington was founded in 1895. In 2014, UTA was honored to be designated as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI). The U.S. Department of Education defines an HSI as an eligible institution of higher education that has an enrollment of undergraduate full-time equivalent students that is at least 25 percent Hispanic students and low income. Furthermore, UTA is proud to have received the Seal of Excelencia certification in 2022, which recognizes our commitment to intentionally serving our Hispanic and all students. In addition, UTA is a member of the Hispanic Serving Research Universities Alliance, an association of universities that are both Hispanic-Serving Institutions and in the top 5% of universities in the country for research.
