Apply to the Honors College
Before you apply to the Honors College, you must be admitted to or currently attending the University of Texas at Arlington as an undergraduate student. If you have not yet applied for admissions to UTA, please contact the Office of Admissions for more information on the UTA application process. Honors College Admissions Requirements are detailed here.
Spring 2025 Deadlines
- Incoming transfer students and current UTA students are only eligible to apply for the spring semester.
- The deadline to apply for Spring 2025 is December 31st.
Fall 2025 Deadlines
- If you are an incoming first-time freshman or transfer student for Fall 2025 and want to be eligible to register for Honors-designated courses during your summer New Maverick Orientation session, you must apply by February 23rd.
- First-time Freshmen students who are interested in housing placement in the Honors Residential Learning Community in Vandergriff Hall and receive access to apply for the Honors Theme Housing Scholarship must also apply by February 23rd.
- The final application deadline to join the Honors College for Fall 2025 is June 30th.
Admissions Process
- Create an account at https://utahonorscollege.smapply.io
- Complete the application questions
- Upload your academic resume (an example is provided on the application)
- Upload your essay that fully answers the prompt
- Input the email of someone who can write a recommendation letter on your behalf
- Click submit and check your status in the application system.
Applications are not reviewed until after the above deadlines and decisions will be sent to students' UTA email addresses 1-2 weeks after the deadline has passed or otherwise noted.
We are unable to offer admissions to students in programs offered exclusively through distance learning (fully-online programs), the Accelerated Online (AO), or online Academic Partnerships (AP) degree plans due to our Honors program requirements.
