Benefits of Teamwork
MARKETABLE SKILLS
There are several reasons why we chose to focus on Teamwork. The table below illustrates core, or marketable, skills that employers desire graduates to have according to research by various agencies. Teamwork is one of those key skills. Our goal through Collaborate UTA, and other efforts, is for every graduate of UTA to have refined those skills so that when they graduate they will have a competitive advantage in whatever path they choose.
Exit surveys, and other data show that our students do not always fell that they have the best collaborative experience, and our instructors do not always know the best approach to take. Our goal is for students to understand what good teamwork looks like and to gain an appreciation for the importance of teamwork. For more on our learning outcomes visit our Student Learning Outcome page.

While the Maverick Advantage through the Five Distinguishing Activities (Leadership, Undergraduate Research, Career Development, Community Engagement, and Global Connections) continues as a major university initiative, Collaborate UTA, through a narrow focus on teamwork, provides a focused platform for assessing and enhancing the quality of those experiences through the Student Learning Outcomes and Program Outcomes.
