Lake Pointe Granbury is the combination of TWO non-profit corporations.

Lake Pointe RESOURCE CENTER, INC, is focused on Community support and outreach. Services include: Monthly Parent Support Groups; Advocacy & Referrals; Professional & Parent Education; Raising Awareness & Funding for Lake Pointe Academy (Private School); Family Fun Events and Sibling support groups. Partnering with providers, we host: Pediatric Speech & Language Services; Independent Educational Evaluations, Diagnostic Assessments.

Lake Pointe ACADEMY, INC., is a private independent therapeutic school for children ages 6 through grade 12. The School program is specifically designed to provide evidence and research based academic, emotional, social, language and communication strategies. We focus on the development of skills needed to navigate life beyond the school setting.

General Service Needs

Volunteers are needed in several areas including administrative support, grant writing, clerical, resource development; direct tutoring, in-classroom support, help develop and plan activities and special projects for students, provide child care during evening programs or before/after school program. The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization encouraging informed and active participation in government. It influences public policy through education and advocacy. We never support or oppose any political party or candidate.

General Service Needs

  1. Develop a stronger media presence for LWVTC for college students (we have Facebook only) to engage a new generation of activists who believe in the League's mission of voter empowerment. Goal: Instagram and Twitter presence
  2. Marketing: educate young women about the league
    -then and now issues in women's history, develop a series of weekly tweets and Instagram posts designed to update League "brand" of nonpartisanship AND strong activism
    -create lively presentations, one for younger groups (Girl Scouts, Brownies) and one for high school, college students demonstrating women's emergence into the public sphere

The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS exists to find cures and ensure access to treatments for blood cancer patients. We are the voice for all blood cancer patients and we work to ensure access to treatments for all blood cancer patients.

Since 1935, Lighthouse for the Blind of Fort Worth has been the beacon of hope for children, youth and adults who are blind or have significant low vision. Our mission is to empower individuals who are blind through superior training, meaningful employment, one-on-one specialized training and client services so they can lead full lives with the highest level of independence and quality of life.

General Service Needs
Home Visitor – Assist Lighthouse clients with grocery shopping, mail reading, letter writing, and running errands. Commitment: 2 – 4 times a month

Telephone Reassurance – Call homebound Lighthouse clients to provide friendship. Commitment: 2 – 4 times a month

Lighthouse CCTV Loaner Program – Assist in the delivery of donated CCTVs to Lighthouse clients. Commitment: 2 – 6 times a month or as needed by Client Services

Transportation Driver – Provide transportation to Lighthouse clients and/or staff for Lighthouse activities and appointments, running errands and medical appointments. Commitment: 2 – 4 times a month and as needed

Special Events – Assist with Lighthouse events ranging from monthly classes to holiday parties. Commitment: Varies depending on event needs

Literacy Achieves is dedicated to improving English literacy levels among non-English speaking adults and their young children by providing programs in communication and life skills. We do so in the belief that the ability to understand, read, write and speak English contributes to independence, productivity and the overall well-being of the learners, their families and the greater community.

Literacy Achieves provides free educational programs for approximately 1,000 adults and 200 preschool children who reside in two low-income, highly diverse areas in Dallas. Literacy Achieves relies on more than 200 weekly volunteers as teachers, and collaborates with other organizations to provide its students with the services they need to become permanently self-sufficient.

General Service Needs

  • Teach English to non-English speaking adults.
  • Volunteer 2 hours a day once a week Monday - Thursday
  • Literacy Achieves offers morning, afternoon and evening classes. All classes are co-taught; training & curriculum are provided.
  • No foreign language experience needed. Minimum age to volunteer is 18.
