This annual event is celebrated internationally and provides a great opportunity to focus on our celestial neighbor. The UTA Planetarium will host the event at the UTA Observatory, where its powerful telescope provides great views of the Moon and planets (weather permitting).

Learn about some of the exciting and innovative research being done in the College of Science! From 3-4 p.m. in SEIR 298, Kayunta Johnson-Winters, director of the UTA Office of Undergraduate Research, will deliver remarks, followed by a Q&A panel comprised of COS faculty and students involved in research. From 4-5 p.m., a mixer in the 2nd floor atrium gives students the chance to talk with COS faculty about how to get involved in undergraduate research. Refreshments will be served.

The Science Constituency Council hosts this informal Q&A session where COS students can meet and chat with Dean Morteza Khaledi, and ask the Dean any questions they have about things going on in the College of Science. Pizza lunch will be served.

Bring your friends and watch a free screening of the 2016 sci-fi drama Arrival on the Planetarium's giant screen! Arrival, starring Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, and Forest Whitaker, tells the story of a linguistics professor who leads an elite team of investigators who must find a way to communicate with extraterrestrial visitors to Earth before a global war begins.

2024-Climate Smart Agriculture Symposium

To promote active learning, enhance mathematics research, and facilitate academic exchange, the department regularly hosts a variety of special events, ranging from summer experience for middle school, high school, and undergraduate students to colloquia and seminars for faculty and graduate students to international conferences that bring world renowned researchers to UTA. These special events and activities have become an integral part of departmental education, research, and increased visibility.
