"I research and teach about early US history, women’s history, slavery studies, the history of medicine, digital history, and public history."
Tell us a little about your story, what brought you to UTA?
I’m from Texas and completed my undergraduate degree at UT Austin. I then went on to graduate school at George Mason University, where I started studying and working in the fields of digital history and public history in the greater DC area. After graduating with my PhD in US History, I started working on a campus history project as a postdoc then a Research Assistant Professor at Clemson University. Eventually I decided it was time to come back home to Texas, and I’m excited to be able to research and teach students about history at UTA!
What are your academic and research interests?
I research and teach about early US history, women’s history, slavery studies, the history of medicine, digital history, and public history.
Any desired interdisciplinary collaborations?
I am especially interested in interdisciplinary collaborations that center on digital humanities, creative inquiry, and experiential learning.
Any news releases or publications that you are featured in that you’d like to share?
My chapter, “Building a Relational Database to Explore Enslaved Midwives’ Work in Early America,” was recently published in the edited volume American Revolutions in the Digital Age with Cornell University Press.
