Innovation Day is April 16, 2024. This year's event is a hybrid event: Participants will submit posters and video presentations online to allow judges to complete their work prior to Innovation Day. Participants will also attend an in-person event in the Bluebonnet Ballroom from 9 a.m.-Noon on April 16, with awards announced at Noon.

Innovation Day celebrates and showcases the innovative, transformative research and undergraduate capstone projects being done by College of Engineering students. Community members and industry leaders are invited to participate and observe the depth and breadth of research occurring in UTA's College of Engineering.

Dean Peter Crouch, understanding the importance of giving students at all levels access to real research experiences, created the College of Engineering's Innovation Day to encourage student participation in research, especially at the undergraduate level. In addition to showcasing the outstanding work of student researchers, the event is an opportunity for industry and the community to become more involved and aware of the quality of UTA's engineering students as they prepare to enter the workforce.

Innovation Day entries are divided into three areas: Undergraduate research, graduate research, and senior design.

Undergraduate Research

The Dean of Engineering has funded more than 30 undergraduate research projects. Students will work alongside a faculty member on a faculty research project. Teams must make a presentation (oral or poster) at Innovation Day. Prizes awarded to the top 3 presentations.

Graduate Research

Graduate students engaged in innovative research are encouraged to enter the graduate research competition. Students must make a presentation (oral or poster) at Innovation Day. Prizes awarded to the top three presentations.

Senior Projects

Seniors graduating in Fall 2023 or in Spring 2024 who have finished their senior projects are encouraged to display them. At least one member of the team must be present at Innovation Day. Prizes awarded.
