Each year, AIA Fort Worth gives the following Honors and Awards to various members, projects, individuals and groups for their outstanding achievements and service to the profession of architecture and the community.
Dennis Chiessa Assistant Professor of Architecture received the President’s Award from AIA Fort Worth. The President Award is established to recognize and honor a person or group in the community for their support of the chapter. Dennis has served as Chair of Latinos in Architecture’s Fort Worth Chapter since 2017 and was selected to be a ‘Blueprint for Better Communities Champion’ - an initiative of the National AIA that seeks to expand the number of AIA members engaged in their communities. Chiessa received the award for the exhibits he organized in 2018 and the contributions he has made to Latinos in Architecture as their chair, which played a big factor.
Adrian Parr, Dean of the College of Architecture Planning and Public Affairs, won the AIA Fort Worth Community Award. This award is given to individuals, organizations, and groups for contributing to the promotion, understanding, appreciation, and advancement of architecture.
Certificate of Appreciation was given to Architecture Associate Professor Kate Holliday and Brad Bell, Director of the School of Architecture. This award is for a spirit of cooperation with, and outstanding contributions to, the American Institute of Architects Fort Worth.
Kate Holliday also received honorary membership for her service to the profession in 2019. One of the highest honors the AIA Fort Worth Chapter can bestow upon a person outside the profession of architecture. It is given to persons of esteemed character who are not eligible for membership in the AIA Fort Worth Chapter, but who have given distinguished service to the profession of architecture or the allied arts and sciences. Holliday is an architectural historian and very grateful for her membership.
UTA AIA student Organization received a Certificate of Appreciation for their outstanding contributions to the American Institute of Architects Fort Worth.
