Hoops history
By earning UTA's first trip to the NCAA tournament, the women's basketball team attracted local and national media attention and established itself as a major player in big-time college hoops

It was a season of firsts for women’s basketball in 2004-05. First regular-season Southland Conference championship. First SLC Tournament championship. First trip to the NCAA Tournament for a UTA women’s or men’s basketball team. The historic drive began in November with a 76-59 victory at Arkansas-Little Rock. By the time it ended in March at Dallas’ Reunion Arena, the Mavericks had set numerous team and individual records and grabbed local and national headlines. Most importantly, they had established themselves as a force in big-time college basketball.
