Updated Master Plan creates a more sustainable campus environment

Turning gray areas green. Redeveloping the campus edge. Creating a more pedestrian-friendly environment. All are goals of UT Arlington’s updated Master Plan. Revisions to the 20-year plan, originally approved by the UT System Board of Regents in 2000, occur every five to seven years. The University began working on this update in 2005 under the leadership of Carter & Burgess, and Ayers Saint Gross. “Any master plan must align the physical development of the campus with the University’s strategic or academic plan,” Vice President for Administration and Campus Operations John Hall said. “This update accomplishes that.” Five principles guided the work. One focuses on creating a more sustainable environment—developing traditional quads and attractive outdoor spaces to serve as activity hubs.
