Joni McCoy

McCoy (’76 BA, Physical Education/English) was inducted into the Texas Girls Coaches Association Hall of Fame in July. She was head volleyball coach at Arlington Martin High School for 23 years, posting 677 wins and earning one state title. She retired in 2004.


Tammara Webber

Webber (’05 BA, English) published her fourth novel, Easy, which reached No. 19 on The New York Times e-book fiction bestseller list in July.

Marcia Hawkins

Dr. Hawkins (’87 BBA, Finance; ’00 PhD, Transatlantic History) is the 19th president of Union College in Barbourville, Ky., and the first woman to lead the institution. She formerly was the associate director for advancement at the National Institute for Technology in Liberal Education and president of the Texas Independent College Foundation.


Trey Yelverton

Yelverton (’88 BA, Political Science) was promoted to city manager of Arlington in February. He had been deputy city manager since 2006, overseeing the departments of economic development, community services, parks and recreation, police and fire, and others.

Meshonda Cole

Cole (’01 BA, Interdisciplinary Studies) is the 2012–13 Teacher of the Year in the Dallas Independent School District. She has been with the DISD for 10 years and teaches sixth-grade math at Kennedy-Curry Middle School.
