Longtime radio and TV personality Alex Burton died Sept. 13 in Dallas. He was 80. A 1981 UT Arlington Distinguished Alumnus, Mr. Burton earned a bachelor’s degree in political science in 1967. He worked at radio stations in the Rio Grande Valley and at a San Antonio TV station before joining WBAP-TV in Fort Worth. He was news director for Channel 39 in Dallas before moving to KRLD radio for 20 years. He also worked for WBAP radio, retiring from daily broadcasting in 1994. He was inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame, and the Dallas Press Club honored him as a Living Legend of North Texas Journalism.
