The Power of Learning

Education reform should be the great civil rights challenge of our time, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said during his Maverick Speakers Series visit in March. “Don’t let anybody tell you that some kids can learn and some kids can’t,” said the founder and board chairman of the Foundation for Excellence in Education, which works to help students reach their learning potential. “Imagine living in a country where we actually think that some subgroups can’t achieve the kind of results that we desire for everybody.” Bush’s lecture was the first Maverick Speakers Series presentation in College Park Center, UT Arlington’s 7,000-seat special events venue that opened in February.
