Journalist and author Lisa Ling encouraged a packed Texas Hall crowd to see the world and gain perspective from different cultures. Ling, who hosts Explorer on the National Geographic Channel, was part of the fall lineup for the 2010-11 Maverick Speakers Series. Others included award-winning documentary filmmaker Ken Burns and celebrity chef Rick Bayless. The spring 2011 semester kicked off with Major League Baseball Hall-of-Famer Cal Ripken Jr. and features scientist, educator, and innovator Bill Nye on March 23.
