Dancing is more than just movement for twins Diana, left, and Nadia Martinez Cepeda. It’s telling ancient stories that amplify their culture. “We dance the Mexican folklore, which is characterized by its glad music and colorful clothes,” Diana says. “Each state or region reflects its rich cultural heritage and unique characteristics through traditional music and dances.” The industrial engineering Ph.D. students are from the state of Jalisco in central-western Mexico. They perform regularly at UT Arlington for cultural celebrations and always have an amazing time. “The key is to feel the music,” Diana says. “It’s a privilege to transmit the roots of our country through music and dance.”
