Overview

Tutoring services forms part of the Academic Success Center (ASC) which is your portal to achieving academic success at UT Arlington. We make every effort to assist you in meeting your academic goals across a wide variety of subject areas. Through Tutoring, Supplemental Instruction (SI), Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL), Accountability Groups, Peer Academic Coaching, and collaborations with campus partners, the Academic Success Center focuses on helping you maximize your potential and thrive in your undergraduate career at UT Arlington. About

Tutoring can help students master course material for a particular subject matter and develop strong study habits by working one-on-one with a tutor for free. eTutoring provides free online tutoring, including writing assistance. In addition, appointment-based and drop-in tutoring is available, including MavUp tutoring both in person and virtually.

supplemental instruction (SI)

Supplemental Instruction, or SI, is a free service that helps students work in groups to understand class concepts. In these peer-facilitated group sessions, trained student leaders attend class with UTA students and engage them with course content.

Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL)

Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL) is a cohort-style academic support program for historically difficult STEM gateway classes. Sessions are designed to encourage problem-solving strategies in small groups when working through study packets created by faculty.

Accountability Groups

Accountability Groups “study halls” offer an opportunity to develop and reinforce effective study habits, connect with peers, and allocate dedicated time for individual work. Peer Academic Coaching sessions further develop study skills and academic strategies that increase student success in a one-on-one environment.

MavUp Tutoring

Peer-to-peer tutoring that provides flexible, “on-the-go” academic support delivered by trained UTA students offered both online and in person across a broad range of disciplines and course levels.

Academic Success Center provides undergraduate students with individualized tutoring in a variety of courses for FREE. We partner with students to maximize their success.  

  • One-on-one tutoring appointments are booked via TutorTrac.
    • In-person Sessions: Your tutor will meet you on the 2nd floor of the Central Library.
    • Online Sessions: Your tutor will connect with you over Microsoft Teams for a virtual session.
  • eTutoring is available via Canvas

Accessing TutorTrac

TutorTrac is an online appointment scheduling software program used to book a tutoring session.

  1. Visit https://traccloud.go-redrock.com/uta_utsi/trac.
  2. Log in with your UTA email and password (same as MyUTA).
  3. Click Login.
  4. In the Student Options block on the left, click Search Availability.
  5. Choose the course/subject or help topic in the Section field. Submit a Request a Tutor Form if you do not find your course listed.
  6. Choose the appropriate center by selecting Tutoring.
  7. Click on the appointment time to schedule; the next screen will show the appointment details. Fill out the required fields and click Save.

How to Cancel Appointments

  1. Log in with your UTA email and password (same as MyUTA).
  2. On your TutorTrac home page, visit the Welcome tab for your Upcoming Appointments.
  3. Find the appointment you wish to cancel.
  4. Then click on the circled X at the end of the appointment information. A cancellation box appears for your appointment.
  5. Fill in the reason for the cancellation and click Confirm Cancellation. An email confirmation will be sent to you, your tutor, and ASC.

Please note that cancellations must be completed a minimum of 12 hours prior to the scheduled appointment time.
