Oncor gift supports electrical engineering students

Thanks to a $75,000 gift from Oncor Electric Delivery, electrical engineering students have an upgraded space to meet, collaborate, and study.

The Oncor IEEE Student Lounge is located in UTA’s Nedderman Hall. The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is the world’s largest technical professional society for the electrical, electronic, and computing fields and related areas of science and technology.

The lounge serves as a gathering spot for the Electrical Engineering Department’s nearly 600 students. Oncor’s gift funded improvements, including new furniture and equipment. The gift also supports student success programming, student travel, and other department priorities.

“Oncor has long been one of UTA’s most valued corporate partners, and we are deeply grateful for this latest philanthropic investment,” President Jennifer Cowley says.

Previous Oncor gifts have supported electrical engineering scholarships, Innovation Day, and more.

“The company’s generous support enhances our ability to provide a top-quality education to our students and help them move on to rewarding careers after graduation,” says Peter Crouch, dean of the College of Engineering.
