The Green Event Certification Program is designed to encourage and recognize events that minimize their environmental impact and promote sustainability. By hosting a certified green event, you contribute to a more sustainable future and inspire others to take action.
What is the Green Event Certification Program?
The Green Event Certification Program empowers event organizers to host environmentally-friendly events by providing guidelines to reduce waste, conserve energy, and promote sustainable practices. This program offers a structured certification process that helps events across campus minimize their environmental footprint while engaging attendees in sustainability efforts.

How to Get Certified
The certification process is simple and designed to help you implement sustainable practices at every stage of your event. Follow these easy steps:

Review the Criteria: Check the Green Event Certification criteria to ensure your event can meet the required standards. These include areas like waste management, sustainable purchasing, and planning and promotion.

Complete the Application: Fill out the Green Event Certification application form, detailing how your event will meet each criterion. We encourage you to be as detailed as possible and attach any photos you have showing your sustainable practices.

Submit for Review: Submit your application to the sustainability team for review. Our team will assess your event based on the provided information.

Receive Certification: If your event meets the criteria, you’ll be awarded a Green Event Certification. You need a minimum of 55 points in order to be certified as a green event.

Celebrate and Share: After your event, you will receive a certificate to display proudly. We’ll also feature your event in our sustainability newsletter and social media, highlighting your contributions to a greener campus.
