Postdoc FAQs

The NPA in collaboration with the NSF and the NIH, adopted the following formal definition of a postdoc in 2007:

"A postdoctoral scholar ('postdoc') is an individual holding a doctoral degree who is engaged in a temporary period of mentored research and/or scholarly training for the purpose of acquiring the professional skills needed to pursue a career path of his or her choosing."

Please note: Calls for postdoctoral scholars will not be advertised on this page. Inquiries must be directed to the department/faculty in question. You can also find postdoc job postings on the UTA Careers webpage. 

The UTA Office of International Education (Office of International Education) has several resources both for the scholar as well as for the hosting department. Looking through their website would be a great place to start. They also offer consultations on a case-specific basis.
