OVER $1 MILLION
Anonymous, BNSF Foundation
The Goolsby Leadership Academy began in 2003 with a $2 million gift from an anonymous donor to the College of Business to honor John and Judy Goolsby. Initially, the funds established four professorships endowed with $250,000 each and a $1 million endowment to provide two-year scholarships for one cohort of about 30 students each year. The College of Business was challenged to raise an additional $3 million to establish critical academy professorships and to boost scholarship levels. By 2010, the college exceeded the $3 million fundraising challenge through generous funding support from corporations and individuals alike.
The Goolsby Leadership Academy has admitted more than 400 students, partnered with more than 30 executives, provided more than $500,000 in scholarships, and graduated more than 350 Scholars. Graduates are employed at companies such as Microsoft, BNSF, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Lockheed Martin and more than 25 percent have continued their education at graduate school or law school. With the Goolsby Leadership Academy now firmly established, the College of Business is ready to expand the academy’s reach on campus and more fully diversify its strength-based approach to leadership development. With additional endowment funding, the academy can further evolve to exponentially increase its impact not only on its scholars but also on the community, locally and beyond.
"The Willingness Of Business Leaders To Commit Time And Energy To Work With These Students Is Crucial, As Are The Financial Resources Needed To Enhance The Academy."
"The University Of Texas At Arlington Is A Top-notch Institution That Provides The Metroplex With A Pipeline Of Quality Graduates. BNSF Has Firsthand Experience Working With Goolsby Scholars. They Are Products Of An Outstanding Program."
The Goolsby Leadership Academy and the College of Business are proud to recognize and thank the individuals, corporations and foundations whose generous support has contributed to the establishment and growth of the Goolsby Leadership Academy. Thank you for helping us discover tomorrow’s business leaders.
