Social Work - BACHELOR'S (BSW)
DEGREE OVERVIEW
The Bachelor of Social Work degree prepares students for a wide range of entry-level generalist practice social service positions working in a variety of areas, such as schools, health care, non-profit, government, corporate, addiction recovery, human resources, immigration, hospice, long-term care, diversity, disability, advocacy, military and veteran care, and much more.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
- Students learn human behavior theories, how to address social problems, and how to advocate for social justice while developing cultural competence skills in assessing and helping individuals, families, and communities.
- BSW students meeting advanced standing standards under the Council for Social Work Education (CSWE) accreditation rules can earn credit toward the MSW degree.
- Students must complete 120 credit hours to finish the program. This includes 18 hours of field internship, 36 hours of required social work courses, and 24 hours of outside electives, allowing many students to complete a minor.

DEGREE OPTIONS
BSW Arlington Campus Option
- Students will complete course requirements in traditional in-person classes on the UTA campus.
- Students will complete a field internship practicum with a local agency or organization.

BSW Fully Online Option
- Students will complete program requirements in online classes.
- Domestic students in the state of Texas and outside the state of Texas can complete the program fully online.
- Students will complete a field internship practicum in their geographical region/location with an agency or organization.

BSW UTA Fort Worth Location Option
- For convenience, we offer a few in-person classes each semester at the UTA Fort Worth location for students who want to take some classes at that location. Classes offered at UTA Fort Worth location are based on space availability and number of students enrolled.
