Victoria Farrar-Myers

UPDATE 09 July 2008: UT Arlington announces change in Honors College leadership

Political science Professor Victoria Farrar-Myers has been named dean of the Honors College. She begins the post Sept. 1, replacing retiring Dean Robert McMahon.

Dr. Farrar-Myers, who came to UT Arlington in 1998, coordinated the University’s Quality Enhancement Plan during the recent Southern Association of Colleges and Schools reaffirmation review process. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and public administration from Russell Sage College, a master’s degree in political science from the University of Illinois and a Ph.D. in political science from the University at Albany, State University of New York.

She specializes in the American presidency, presidential-congressional relations, separation of powers and campaign finance reform. She wrote Scripted for Change: The Institutionalization of the American Presidency (Texas A&M Press, 2007) and co-wrote two other books.

In 1997-98, Farrar-Myers served as an American Political Science Association congressional fellow. Her many honors include the 2001 UT Arlington Chancellor’s Council Award for Excellence in Teaching, the 2005 Arlington Star-Telegram Service Learning Award and the 2007 UT Arlington Honors College Distinguished Faculty Award.
