The Oozeball mud volleyball tournament won the Most Outstanding Program Award from District Four of the Association of Student Advancement Programs. The event raises money for scholarships.

The Student Alumni Association’s Oozeball mud volleyball tournament recently received the Most Outstanding Program Award from District Four of the Association of Student Advancement Programs.

“The Oozeball tournament is not only one of the most popular UT Arlington traditions, it also raises money for scholarships,” SAA adviser Jasmine Stewart said. “Winning such a prestigious award validates the hard work that our students put into the event.”

This year’s tournament is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 22.

The SAA serves as a liaison between the Alumni Association and the University by increasing school spirit, building lasting relationships with students and alumni, and producing strong student leaders who will support UT Arlington in the future.

The Association of Student Advancement Programs is a professional organization for student alumni associations, student foundations and ambassador programs that includes 22 universities and colleges from Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. The SAA will compete for the national award in August in San Antonio.

In other news, the SAA held its fourth annual tuition raffle in February during the Blue and White Fashion Show. The organization awarded up to 12 hours of undergraduate, in-state tuition, excluding fees, for the fall 2006 semester to winner Charles Wilson.
