The Alumni Association has appointed alumna Stephanie Thompson as assistant director of special events. In her new role, which began in June, she helps plan and implement activities such as the Distinguished Alumni Gala as well as networking and social events. She formerly worked as special events coordinator for UT Arlington’s Automation & Robotics Research Institute (ARRI) and brings more than 10 years of event management experience. In 2003, she received ARRI’s Ruey Diamond Outstanding Employee of the Year Award. Thompson earned a master of public administration degree from UT Arlington in 1997. "I am very excited about my new position in the heart of the University," she said. "Moving to the Alumni Association gives me the opportunity to share my Maverick pride with even more alumni, students, faculty and staff."
