Mavericks of Distinction
Program Overview
The Mavericks of Distinction (MOD) program is a program anyone is welcome to join. MOD is focused on the retention and graduation rates of men from historically underserved communities on UTA’s campus. The program provides mentorship, leadership development and academic support.
Requirements
Students who are interested in the Mavericks of Distinction (MOD) program must meet the following minimum requirements.
- Be a current enrolled student at UTA
- Attend 65% of the meetings
- Engage in community service project.
- Participate in at least one campus wide tradition or event per semester.
- Mid & End of semester grade/conduct check.
- Meet with MOD Advisor for semesterly 1:1s
First Year Students
For students that are first year freshmen and looking to find a community amongst their peers, can take part in our first year residential living learning community (RLC) hosted in Vandergriff Hall. To find more information please follow the below link:

- Students that take part in the MOD RLC will be required to take part in the UNIV Courses through their first year at UTA
