Baseball Economic Impact in Fort Worth

The Major League Baseball draft will be hosted in the Cowtown Coliseum as part of the league’s All-Star Week events in North Texas, according to the Fort Worth Report. William Crowder, chair of the Department of Economics, says there are several studies that look at the economic impact of major league sports on cities, and it’s not as substantial as many believe.

Interdisciplinary Grant Increase at UTA

Bioengineer.org and Sciencemag reshared a UTA news release about the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation increasing grant funding for interdisciplinary research groups by nearly 40% in 2024.

Shakespeare LIVE at the Levitt Pavilion

The first Shakespeare LIVE production will be coming to Arlington’s Levitt Pavilion next April, according to the Fort Worth Report. Kevin Carr, clinical assistant professor, serves on the executive team and UTA alumnus Lou Diamond Phillips signed on as the official Shakespeare LIVE spokesperson and associate director.
